Filmdog Media was established in 2002, however the seed was planted ten years earlier while owner Marc Ward was still cutting his teeth on U-Matic machines and tube cameras in college. There he established a small event videography business called High Concept Productions where he gained valuable experience in the productions world.

While in Atlanta, Marc worked for several production companies gaining him experience in the broadcast and corporate markets. He further gained experience when he worked on high pressure shoots with TV shows like Access Hollywood, Extra, and Hard Copy as well as with MTV and ESPN networks.

The name Filmdog was a nickname was given to Marc while shooting news with the Birmingham ABC affiliate. This nickname became the name of Marc's establishment, Filmdog Media.
